About Engelberg

The small Swiss town of Engelberger has become world famous for its winter night ski jumping competitions and snowboarding tournaments.

Engelberger means mountain of angels. According to legend, the beautiful name the town received during the construction of the Benedictine monastery. On a nearby mountain slope, the abbots saw an incredible picture – a chorus of angels praising God.

Slopes

Engelberger is an ideal place for skiing for both beginners and professionals. The total length of the trails is 82 kilometers. Of these:

The slopes are divided into two areas of skiing. The first is Brunni (1,860 m) located on the north side. It is designed for beginner skiers, as well as for families. There are a total of 12 routes in this area and a few areas for training.

The second zone is considered the main one; it is aimed at skiers with good training and professional skiers. The real highlight of the resort is the 12,000 meter long Jochstok-Samnielplatz trail with an elevation difference of 1,514 meters.

There are ski schools near the resort, where experienced instructors will teach skiers how to improve their skills and confidently ski off the slopes. For the fans of cross-country skiing there are 41 kilometers of trails on flat areas.
