About Cortina d’Ampezzo

Cortina d’Ampezzo is a luxurious Italian resort, which is rightfully included in the list of the best alpine ski areas. Wonderful nature and well-balanced image of the place attracts a huge number of tourists from all over the world every year.

The resort located at an altitude of 1 200 m is popular not only because of its luxurious slopes, but also because of its varied leisure time activities, comfortable friendly atmosphere, and developed service. From Austria to Cortina d’Ampezzo is only 44 kilometers. The town is located in the province of Belluno and is characterized by a mild climate, from blizzards and winds it is protected by high slopes. The season begins in late November and lasts until early May.

Trails

The total length of trails in Cortina d’Ampezzo is 140 kilometers. Everyone can find a route for themselves, depending on experience and complexity. There are 6 ski areas with 72 slopes. The main part of the slopes is designed for beginners and amateur skiers with medium level of training. Black slopes are few; most of them are blue, red and green:

  • Routes from the peaks of Forcella Staunies and Ra Valles will be of interest to professionals;
  • Short trails on the slopes Tofan (3,243 m) are designed for beginner skiers and amateurs. The snow cover on the trails is always thick and stable;
  • Pomedes slopes (2,345 m) will appeal to amateur skiers;
  • For beginners we also recommend Socrepes, Pocol (1,530m) and Mietres (1,710m).

The resort has organized gently sloping trails for cross-country skiers. Romantic skiers will be interested in night skiing surrounded by the torch lighting. Along the slopes, there are snow cannons, which guarantee a constant snow cover regardless of the weather conditions.

In Cortina d’Ampezzo there are several schools where qualified instructors can teach children and adults to be confident on skis. There you can also make an appointment with a guide for off-piste skiing.

Elevators

There are 51 elevators in the resort, including:

  • Boogie lifts;
  • Chairlifts;
  • Cable cars.

You do not have to wait in line for the elevators, the capacity is about 60,000 people per hour.

Ski passes

Only two slopes are located near the elevators, the rest are accessed by buses that run every quarter hour. The pass may be used along the entire length of the slopes in all 12 valleys of the resort area.

Entertainment and attractions
